The gospel of grace is generous.

I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. (2 Corinthians 8:8-9, ESV)

Why Give?

Generosity is about love and grace not law and guilt.  God loves a cheerful giver not a reluctant one (2 Cor. 9:7).  Each one must give as he has decided in his heart. Giving to the local church must be a “willing  gift” not an “exaction” (2 Cor. 9:5).

We love because God first loved us (1 John 4:19).  We give because God first gave to us.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (John 3:16).  God was the first cheerful giver.  He so loved, he gave. If we want to grow in generosity, we must behold the Generous Giver’s gospel of grace.

Make a Difference

Gospel Giving is about the heart.  It is a response to God’s love-motivated, grace-filled generosity in the gospel.  It is “not a command” but does “prove the earnestness” of your love.  If our love for Jesus is genuine, we will give our time, treasure and talent to the love of Jesus’ life–the local church.  By this, we reflect God’s love and generosity.

Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.

Billy Graham

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.
